HfHR joins demonstrations around the world in solidarity with students demanding fair examinations, institutional accountability, and the right to protest safely
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New York, NY; San Jose, CA; Dublin, IRE; and London, UK (July 21st, 2026) -- Yesterday, July 20th, Hindus for Human Rights held solidarity demonstrations today at the Gandhi statue in New York City’s Union Square and at San José City Hall. HfHR UK members also joined a demonstration outside the Indian High Commission in London, while our allies at United Against Racism gathered outside the Indian Embassy in Dublin.
These actions join an international growing response to the student-led movement in India; yesterday, thousands gathered at Jantar Mantar and attempted to march towards Parliament, demanding accountability for examination leaks, recruitment failures, and the immense pressure placed on India's young people. Protestors in India were met with tear gas and police batons.
Our protests sent a clear message, whether in New York or London, San Jose or Dublin: India's students deserve to be treated with fairness and dignity. The youth of India deserve honest answers and a future they can trust. The Indian citizenry deserves open dialogue and reform, and it is time for the Indian government to take accountability.
