From Shadows to the Stars: Honoring Rohith Vemula’s Legacy - NYC

From Shadows to the Stars: Honoring Rohith Vemula’s Legacy

Description:
A cultural and literary tribute honoring Rohith Vemula, the Dalit student activist whose life and death sparked a global reckoning on caste. Ten years after his institutional killing, we gather to remember Rohith’s legacy, reflect on the impact of his words and resistance, and collectively envision what comes next.

The evening will feature a film screening, art installations by Dalit artists, poetry and storytelling by anti-caste writers and thinkers, music of resistance, and virtual reflections from Rohith’s friends and family in India.
