As religious nationalism grows in the United States and around the world, Faith Beyond Religious Nationalism is launching a new kind of interfaith dialogue grounded in truth-telling, self-reflection, confession, repentance, and shared democratic principles. Each conversation examines a religious tradition and the ways it can be distorted by religious nationalism.

The program will feature:

Imam Shamsi Ali, Jamaica Muslim Center, and Rev. Adriene Thorne, Senior Minister of The Riverside Church, on a new paradigm for interfaith dialogue.

Sunita Viswanath, co-founder of Hindus for Human Rights, on “What is Hinduism?”

Rev. Neal Christie and Rev. Peter Cook of Faith Beyond Religious Nationalism on the characteristics of religious nationalism.

Rev. John J. Thatamanil, Professor of Theology and World Religions at Union Theological Seminary, on Hinduism and how it is distorted by Hindu nationalism.

This is the first in a planned series of self-reflective conversations in sacred spaces across faith traditions.
