In light of escalating tensions in South Asia, this timely webinar will examine the background of the recent military confrontations between India and Pakistan and their devastating impact on Kashmir. As war posturing, media jingoism, and nationalist rhetoric escalate, Kashmiri lives continue to be marginalized, erased, and silenced.

Our expert panel will address:

  • The use of hate speech and Zionist tactics in stoking war

  • The suppression of press freedom and Kashmiri voices

  • The human toll of occupation and militarization since 2019

  • Issues of international law, climate degradation, demographic shifts, and human rights

  • The urgent need for demilitarization and a just, permanent resolution in accordance with the wishes of Kashmiris

For over seven decades, Kashmiris have been treated as pawns in the India-Pakistan conflict. This conversation seeks to recenter their voices and advocate for peace, dignity, and sovereignty.

Speakers:

  • Dr. Omer Aijazi, University of Manchester

  • Robert Fantina, Author and journalist

  • Imraan Mir, Attorney, writer, and researcher

  • Dr. Ather Zia, University of Northern Colorado
