Dear Friend,

This September, our focus remains anchored in forging powerful interfaith alliances. On the international stage, our pivotal Coalition statement for the USCRIF and participation in Climate Week 2023 demonstrate the strength of united advocacy. Yet, closer to home, we cannot ignore the unsettling events within the North American Diaspora. From credible allegations by the Canadian government against India to the heart-wrenching loss of Jaahnavi Kandula, we remain a resolute voice for justice, peace, and dignity.

As we journey through September, let's champion the alliances that amplify our shared goals and address pressing challenges.

In unity and purpose,

The Team at HfHR

HfHR Executive Director Sunita Viswanath testifies at USCIRF's hearing on India, on Capitol Hill last Wednesday.

On the death of Jaahnavi Kandula

At Hindus for Human Rights, we're profoundly moved by the tragic loss of Jaahnavi Kandula, a young woman full of promise. The thoughtless remarks post her passing only deepen the sorrow. We stand in solidarity with her grieving family. Link to full statement.

Concerning Revelations & A Call for Unity

We were profoundly alarmed by the claims from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau about the alleged Indian government's involvement in a Sikh Canadian citizen's assassination. "These revelations, if confirmed, are deeply unsettling," notes Sunita Viswanath, HfHR's Executive Director. Link to first statement

In a directly related incident shortly after, we had to denounce recent divisive comments by Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) against Indian-origin Hindus in Canada. We champion mutual respect and unity, essentials for harmonious coexistence. Link to second statement.
